ORDRE DU JOUR:

Le 25 nivôse, anniversaire de la bataille de Rivoli, il sera lancé un Ballon, de la place de l’Ezbekieh, sur lequel sera écrit le nom de tous les Braves morts dans cette bataille.
Le GÉNÉRAL EN CHEF est satisfait de la conduite du citoyen Marcelay, chirurgien officier de santé à Alexandrie. L’Ordonnateur en chef lui fera toucher une gratification de six cents livres. Le citoyen Roize, chef d’escadron du 22ᵉ régiment de dragons, est nommé chef de brigade, adjudant-général chargé du détail de la cavalerie.

Le GÉNÉRAL EN CHEF ORDONNE :
ARTICLE PREMIER.
Le caporal Girardeau et le grenadier Antoine, de la 52ᵉ demi-brigade, seront fusillés demain à midi, comme ayant assassiné trois femmes.
II. Les officiers, sous-officiers et grenadiers de la 3ᵉ compagnie qui étaient de service au quartier-général dans la nuit du 14 au 15, sont cassés.
III. Le général de division me présentera des officiers et sous-officiers pour commander cette compagnie ; je choisirai de bons sujets, et des hommes capables de maintenir la discipline.
IV. Les nommés Dupont, François Campredon, Dorat, Delhomme, Lamontagne, Aureille, Giraud, Lacombe, Geneste, Bousquet, Prudhomme, Janille, Laurent, Lachique, Croisette, ainsi que tous les sous-officiers destitués par l’article précédent, seront incorporés comme simples fusiliers dans les autres demi-brigades de l’armée.
L’état-major recommandera au chef de brigade où il les enverra, d’avoir sur eux une surveillance particulière, afin de punir sévèrement le premier acte d’indiscipline qu’ils commettraient.

Le GÉNÉRAL EN CHEF destitue de leurs fonctions les citoyens Guihaudin et Santon, capitaines au 5ᵉ bataillon de la 95ᵉ demi-brigade, pour avoir joué avec des soldats à des jeux de hasard : ils seront remplacés à leur corps.

ARTICLE PREMIER.
Tous les délits commis par les habitants du pays, qui ne sont pas du ressort du conseil militaire, seront jugés par le Cadi.
II. Lorsque ces délits compromettront la sûreté publique, ou que les circonstances seront telles que le général commandant la province croira devoir les faire juger par un tribunal français, il formera une commission composée :
– Des trois premiers officiers en grade qui sont dans la province,
– Du commissaire des guerres,
– Du président du divan.
L’agent français fera les fonctions de rapporteur.Lorsque cette commission prononcera la peine de mort, elle ne pourra être exécutée qu’après l’approbation du Général en Chef.

[Order of the Day – 24 Nivôse, Year 7 (January 13, 1799)
On the 25th of Nivôse, the anniversary of the Battle of Rivoli, a balloon will be launched from the Ezbekieh Square, bearing the names of all the brave men who died in that battle.
The Commander-in-Chief is satisfied with the conduct of Citizen Marcelay, surgeon and medical officer in Alexandria. The Chief Paymaster shall grant him a reward of 600 livres.
Citizen Roize, squadron leader of the 22nd Dragoon Regiment, is appointed brigade chief, and adjutant-general in charge of cavalry administration.

THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF ORDERS:
ARTICLE I.
Corporal Girardeau and grenadier Antoine, of the 52nd demi-brigade, shall be executed by firing squad tomorrow at noon, for having murdered three women.
II. The officers, non-commissioned officers, and grenadiers of the 3rd company who were on duty at General Headquarters on the night of the 14th to the 15th are dismissed.
III. The division general shall present me with officers and non-commissioned officers to command this company; I will select reliable men capable of maintaining discipline.
IV. The following men — Dupont, François Campredon, Dorat, Delhomme, Lamontagne, Aureille, Giraud, Lacombe, Geneste, Bousquet, Prudhomme, Janille, Laurent, Lachique, Croisette — as well as all NCOs dismissed by the previous article, will be reassigned as simple riflemen in other demi-brigades of the army.
The General Staff will instruct the brigade commander to closely monitor them, in order to severely punish any future act of indiscipline.

The Commander-in-Chief relieves from duty Citizens Guihaudin and Santon, captains in the 5th battalion of the 95th demi-brigade, for having gambled with soldiers; they will be replaced within their unit.

THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF ORDERS:
ARTICLE I.
All offenses committed by local inhabitants that do not fall under the jurisdiction of the military council will be judged by the Cadi (Islamic judge).
II. When such offenses compromise public safety, or when circumstances require, the general commanding the province may deem it necessary to have them judged by a French tribunal. He will form a commission composed of:
– The three senior officers present in the province,
– The war commissioner,
– The president of the Divan.
A French officer will serve as the rapporteur (reporting officer).If this commission pronounces a death sentence, it may only be carried out with the approval of the Commander-in-Chief.
